Students from Dr. Karen Sorvaag’s ED445 Advanced Literacy Methods for Diverse Learners course have been observing ESL teaching and learning strategies within a number of the language institute’s classes. The ED445 students have also been paired with international students for the purpose of acting as conversation partners and tutors throughout the semester. These soon to be teachers are now meeting weekly with SMU’s English language learners. This partnership, while providing course-based practical interaction for both sides, is also assisting in the development of a cross-cultural understanding for all participants. DLI truly appreciates the collaboration with the ED445 instructor and students.
